Our ELS Language Center in Miami, Florida is located in a quiet suburb of Miami, Florida, on the 36-hectare campus of Barry University. Florida is a tropical paradise, with year-round sunshine, blue ocean waters, and white sand beaches. ELS/Miami is located just twenty minutes from downtown Miami, and world-famous Miami Beach. The Miami area is known for its exciting outdoor activities including scuba diving, snorkeling, jet skiing, water skiing, boating, and windsurfing.

The ELS Business English Program covers the following skills: giving presentations, participating in meetings, negotiating agreements, explaining and defending positions, and using business vocabulary and idiomatic expressions in work-related conversation.

Additional Learning Opportunities

Through regularly organized activities you can practice English both in and out of the classroom with native guest speakers or American students discussing various topics.

Music, Voice or Dance Lessons
We can arrange for students to take musical instrument, voice or dance lessons with faculty or qualified students.

College Class Visits and Auditing
ELS Intensive students (in key levels) can visit one or more college classes, depending on professor approval.

Access to Campus Facilities/Services
ELS students may use many of the facilities at our host college/university for free (or low cost) during their studies. Available facilities may vary, but usually include a fitness center, swimming pool, campus library, tennis court, and more.

Volunteerism Experience
ELS Language Centers offers a unique opportunity for full-time students who wish to participate in volunteer experiences at public and private, national and local organizations that provide services to adults, youth, children, elderly, handicapped and needy, or services protecting and improving the environment. Students who complete this experience will receive a certificate, which recognizes their participation.

The ELS Holly House Apartments offer large fully furnished two bedroom apartments with shared double occupancy or private bedrooms. Apartments feature fully equipped kitchens, a full living room with dining area, and a shared bathroom. Wireless internet and cable television are provided.

The Holly House Apartment location is perfect, just a fifteen minute walk to the ELS classrooms. The entrance and parking lot are both gated, insuring privacy and security. A courtyard and swimming pool area help students feel relaxed as soon as they arrive, and they can also enjoy their own private balcony. Linens are included and there is a laundry room on the premises.

On-campus Student Residence

Students are housed in off campus, Barry University owned apartments. 10 minute walk to classes. A limited number of rooms are available. Shared bathrooms (summer dorms may differ). Rooms include 2 beds, 2 dressers, 2 desks and 2 chairs. Triples contain 3 of each. Linens are also included.

Homestay

All ELS Centers offer homestay accommodations with an English-speaking host family. ELS host families are carefully screened to ensure they provide a pleasant and safe “home away from home” for our students. Living with a host family can help you learn English faster while experiencing American customs and culture firsthand. Students often develop very close relationships with their hosts — friendships that can last a lifetime. Students have their own room and are responsible for their personal transportation.
