Center Staff

Donna Myers
Center Director: Welcome to Nashville, otherwise known as “Music City”! I have enjoyed working with international students for 10 years, and have been fortunate to meet so many smart, warm, and interesting people! Having traveled and lived overseas myself, I have struggled with many of the challenges our students face living in a “strange” place and learning a new language. Nashville is a great place to study and explore. The people are friendly, there is lots of great music, and you cannot beat the cost of living!

Sevda Kheshti
Academic Director: I am originally from Azerbaijan, Baku. I speak Azerbaijani, English, Russian, and Turkish fluently and understand Persian. I have taught ESL for twenty years. As a language student and teacher, I am well aware of the problems that language learners face. I am especially sensitive to the practical aspects of using the English language in everyday life. As Academic Director of the Nashville ELS Center, I am delighted to be participating in the creation of a high-quality academic program and working with professional staff, experienced teachers, and motivated students. Our center is an enjoyable place to learn English and will meet high standards we have set ourselves from the start. Come and explore the world of English in Nashville!

Martia DeMore
Most of my life I have enjoyed knowing people from all over the world. I even lived in another country for two years with, my husband and daughters. During those years, I tried to learn Arabic and French, so I know how important and challenging it is to learn a new language! I love my job at ELS helping students reach their personal, educational, and career goals as they learn English in Nashville.

Maegen Endert
I’m so excited that you are considering ELS Nashville at Middle Tennessee State University for your studies. MTSU is not only where I work now, but it is also where I went to university. I’m looking forward to showing you around! After I finished a BA in English, I moved to Bulgaria to live and teach for two years. While I was there, I obtained a CELTA certificate. I know how intimidating it is to move to a very foreign country because of my experience abroad. I also know how exciting and fun it can be to explore and learn about new places, people, and cultures. …Oh, and a language! It’s going to be a challenge, but we will be here to help you enjoy it as you prepare for your university or professional experiences in the United States.
