The ELS General English program gives you the opportunity to improve your English by focusing on the skills you will need to communicate well in everyday business and social settings. The four morning classes focus on the listening, speaking, reading and writing skills necessary to communicate effectively in English. Center Staff
Molly Swift
Center Director: I was born in Kansas City, but have spent most of my life in New England. After graduating College with a BA in Sociology and Education, I worked as a teacher at ELS Language Centers. My career with ELS developed into positions as Academic Director for 2 different ELS Centers. I have also taught ESL in Community College and other adult settings. I have been a Center Director for almost 20 years – the last 10 years in Boston. I love meeting students and colleagues from all parts of the world.
Olga Kolas
My professional experience at ELS started when I accepted the Academic Director position at Boston City Center in 2007, a couple of months after the new center opened. I have lived in Boston for over 5 years and have enjoyed the city ever since I moved here. It is the most fascinating place for students as it is known for the world famous educational establishments with the highest academic standards, of which ELS Language Centers is also proud. My rich ESL background comes from a five year BA’s degree in languages and education from Eastern Europe, and years of teaching, in addition, I am finishing my MA’s in Applied Linguistics at UMass – Boston with the concentration in critical pedagogy and second language acquisition.
Jenifer Park
Registrar: I was born in Flushing, New York, but raised in northern New Jersey. I graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in English Literature and a minor in Psychology. I have a great appreciation for people and cultures all over the world! I have traveled to Korea, China, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Greece, Italy and Austria. I enjoy meeting, greeting and getting to know each student that comes through our door. My hope is that every person that comes to ELS Boston City learns English well, grows in their cultural experience and makes many new friends from around the globe.
Meaghan Casey
International Student Advisor: I am a native to the Boston area, and enjoy showing off my home “town” to visitors, especially students. My love for foreign culture and travel started when I studied in Tours, France during my time at Bucknell University. I went on to teach English at the Elementary School level in a small town in the Poitou-Charentes region of France. I spent the last two years completing a Master’s Degree in Intercultural Communications in Baltimore, Maryland. During this time, I also worked in the Study Abroad Office, helping to prepare American students for their studies overseas. I am thrilled to now welcome International Students to the United States, the Boston area, and to ELS. I enjoy seeing students from all different parts of the world in my office each day.
