Gloria Flynn
Gloria has been teaching ESL since 2004 when she left the Seattle area and began working as an instructor, language acquisition counselor and curriculum designer for Berlitz Japan. She taught at two Tokyo universities, wrote or edited eight ESL textbooks and designed presentation curricula. She also wrote English language tests that were used in Tokyo junior high schools to test English proficiency. Gloria has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Communications from the University of Washington, with an added concentration in International Relations. Her love of travel has taken her to many countries where she has delighted in the opportunities to experience different cultures and make new friends. Through working in another country, she understands the difficulties international students experience when coming to live in the United States, and is prepared to help them in whatever way she can to ease their “culture shock.” It is her deep privilege and pleasure to be a part of the ELS family as the Las Vegas Academic Director.
