If you wish to qualify for university admission through an IELTS score, you can take the test at our location. Click here for registration information.
Contact America! Program
Through regularly organized activities you can practice English both in and out of the classroom with native guest speakers or American students discussing various topics.
College Class Visits and Auditing
ELS Intensive students (in key levels) can visit one or more college classes, depending on professor approval.
Scholarships/Discounts
After completion of the full ELS Intensive English Program qualified students may receive credit for ELS and/or tuition discounts at select host universities and colleges, once they matriculate.
Access to Campus Facilities/Services
ELS students may use many of the facilities at our host college/university for free (or low cost) during their studies. Available facilities may vary, but usually include a fitness center, swimming pool, campus library, tennis court, and more.
Volunteerism Experience
ELS Language Centers offers a unique opportunity for full-time students who wish to participate in volunteer experiences at public and private, national and local organizations that provide services to adults, youth, children, elderly, handicapped and needy, or services protecting and improving the environment. Students who complete this experience will receive a certificate, which recognizes their participation.
Concurrent Enrollment at Host College
ELS students who have received conditional acceptance from the host college/university may have the chance to attend one or more individual college courses (for credit) while still studying in the Intensive English Program or Fast Track Program.

Center Staff
Ellen Clegg
Ellen, Center Director, has an MA in TESOL from California State University, Los Angeles, a BA in French from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an MFA in Design from the University of California, Irvine. She got her ESL training during her Peace Corps service in Burkina Faso. She started working with ELS Language Centers in 1988 as an instructor at the center in Santa Monica, California and became Academic Director for the center in Orange, California in 1997. She moved to San Antonio in 2005.
Allan Davidson
Allan, Academic Director is originally from Norwich, England where he pursued a BA in English and American Literature. In addition, he holds a TEFL International Certificate. In Bangkok, Thailand, he was an ESL instructor at Assumption Convent School and head teacher at Elite Language Institute. He is the Instructional Specialist responsible for our Learning Technology Center.
Max Thomas
Max comes to us from a long and decorated service in the U.S. Navy. During his military service, he acquired extensive experience in language teaching and training of various kinds. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Wayland Baptist University in Business Administration and an MA from UTSA in Bicultural Bilingual Studies with a concentration in Teaching English as a Second Language.
Phil Reed
Phil began teaching English as a Second Language during Peace Corps service in Burkina Faso. He has taught on four continents, working in five different languages during that time. He received a TESOL Certificate from Oxford Seminars, holds a BA in Speech and Drama from Marymount College of Kansas and an MA in Theology from the Institut Catholique of Toulouse (France).
Pinar Sahin Wilson
Pinar, Registrar and International Student Advisor was born in Holland and raised in Turkey, Pinar has a cross cultural background well suited to her present position. She obtained a BA in Psychology with a minor in Health from UTSA. This was followed by an MA in Administration with a concentration in Organizational Development from Incarnate Word University.
