Center Staff

Jodi Weber
Hello from ELS Ashland! I am the Center Director. I have an M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language. Working with students from all over the world is so much fun and such a privilege. Learning another language is a huge challenge. It’s always rewarding to see students’ progress. Grammar and reading are my favorite aspects of language. When I’m not working, I love being outdoors – usually riding my bike, working in my garden, or (in the winter) snowshoeing.

Ronda Sheffield
As Academic Director at ELS/Ashland, I’ll help you with your placement and classes. I look forward to welcoming new students to beautiful southern Oregon. I have an M.A. in TESL and have taught for many years both in the U.S. and in other countries. I am enthusiastic about helping international students reach their English goals. In my free time, I enjoy skiing and sailing with family and friends.

Michelle Cleaver
I am the registrar. I grew up in Vermont with its unique New England culture and received my degree in ethics from Wesleyan University in Connecticut. After school, I went west to the beautiful state of Oregon where I enjoy hiking, biking, camping and the many opportunities to attend theater, lectures, and music concerts. The students and staff make working at ELS Ashland a pleasure. Come and see me if you need help during your stay here.

Nancy Elliott
I am the Instructional Assistant at ELS Ashland. I have a Ph.D. in linguistics, and my specializations are in English pronunciation, dialects, and the history of the English language. I like English grammar a lot. I also love meeting students from other countries and learning about their cultures and languages. I enjoy learning other languages, playing musical instruments, hiking and camping in Oregon’s beautiful outdoors, and learning about the natural world. I hope you have a great time in Ashland!

Monique Abbett
Monique loves teaching international students as a little of the world comes to her in the classroom each day. She has a Masters degree in Education with an endorsement in ESL, and loves to practice French and Spanish when the opportunity arises with students. Her passions include traveling, going to the theater and curling up with a great book.

Ami Mycko
Ami Mycko is the Homestay Coordinator at ELS Ashland. She received her degree in English and Philosophy with minors in comparative religion and poetry from Colorado State University. She has taught elementary school, specializing in remedial education and sensory integration. She has also run her own catering and home chef business. She has two beautiful children, one devoted husband, and a heart full of her very own Homestay students.
