My name is Mizuko and I am from Japan. I studied English at ELS in Berkeley for five months and in Las Vegas for one month. I enjoyed the experience of studying with lots of international students and being exposed to different cultures at both schools. I often had dreams of studying abroad during different times in my life and at last I had the chance to realize my dream. It took a lot of pluck to start a new career at my age. Since I think it’s important to do the things we want to do, I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life thinking “if only I had done whatever...” I believe it is never too late to learn, therefore, I’m glad to have had the opportunity to study in the US The reason I chose ELS was because they have great educational programs and a great reputation. Their nation-wide network that connects many universities and colleges throughout the US also appealed to me. In fact, ELS fit my exact educational needs and I’m really satisfied with their programs to help students improve their English skills. Also, teachers are very friendly and helpful; they always gave me the added motivation to study more. Thanks to the wonderful faculty and classmates at ELS, I enjoyed a very good time there. If you are thinking about studying English, I’ll strongly recommend ELS; it’s well worth a try.

My name is Iviriss and I am from Angola- Luanda. I am 24 years old. I came to the US for the first time in October of 2009 while on vacation. After my vacation, I went back to where I was studying, in Warsaw, Poland, where I kept thinking about finishing my studies. After I had a conversation with my parents, I decided to move to the US. Before I came, I thought that I spoke pretty good English, but as soon as I got here, I noticed that my English wasn't good enough to get accepted into a university. Then I started studying by myself but I was still afraid to talk to people. I wasn't confident about myself. My boyfriend came up with an idea. He found ELS on the campus of the College of Southern Nevada (CSN). He talked to an adviser about going to CSN but decided that it would be great if I started first at ELS. The first day of class was just OK because I was a little bit afraid to interact with everybody. With time, I started to be more open and really enjoyed the classes. The teachers played a big role in my life showing me that I am able to learn English by just being myself. They made me believe again in myself , which made me get better and better in my English skills. It was after 2 months that I was able to pass the English test, which allowed me to get into the college. I was really happy with my progress but I was also sad because I knew that it was time to leave the ELS family. I learned a lot with ELS and took advantage of it. My English is really good now, but I still have to improve more. I am really happy with the program at ELS. Thanks to the ELS family, I improved my English, I learned a lot with everybody and most important was that I made friends forever with students from all around the world. I will always have you guys in my heart!

First of all, it is a great honor for me to write a testimonial for ELS. Even though the time that I spent at ELS was short, the services and experiences that I acquired there were incredibly helpful. Their properly arranged programs improved my English skills outrageously. The staff and the instructors were very nice and kind. They treated me, a total foreign stranger, as their own family member and also as a friend. They devoted their time and efforts to take care of me, to teach me and also to explain everything that I had to know in order to survive in a new environment, "America." I will never forget May of 2010, the month that I worked as the student activities coordinator for ELS. It was both a great challenge and experience for me. As an alumnus of ELS and a current student at the College of Southern Nevada, I believe ELS is one of the best places to start your academic goals in the US

Sung Hwan Jung, South Korea

My name is Sung Hwan Jung. As you can guess, I am from South Korea, which is located between China and Japan. I am a former ELS student who studied at ELS Las Vegas for 4 months. To be honest, before I came here to America, I felt nervous, strange and something like these emotions, which most people feel. I was not an exception. I felt more nervous, shocked and was even shaking. Moreover, many people asked me why I choose here, but the important thing is that I have never regretted my choice. For several months, I learned many ways to speak English fluently. Even though I have studied English ever since I was a middle school student, I am not sure how good my English skills were. I am able to see a little bit of where I am with my English abilities now, but just seeing is not enough. The more time I spent studying English, the more stress I got. However, I can tell people who were worried about my English abilities and didn’t know if I would improve, that it progressed rapidly, thanks to ELS. Right now, I am not the person who is afraid of speaking English in front of people any more!!! I can make natives laugh with speaking English. I can learn not only English, but also American cultures. I can relieve my culture shock by sharing stories with teachers. They are good listeners. Depending on the situations, they tend to become advisors, friends and mentors. Their experience always helped students. Furthermore, they offered important motivations as to why we have to learn English. Through this process, I can cultivate my courage, patience and broaden my knowledge. To make a long story short, the life and the experiences at ELS were amazing. I mean that even minor things, such as speaking with teachers and international students, learning English while eating and drinking and while walking allows me to enjoy each moment here in the US. I know my English is not perfect. I admit it. However, in my opinion, due to ELS, I feel more confidence than before I came here and it helped me to get good grades in my first semester in college. I received a 3.75 GPA and was included in the Dean’s list. If you are worried about life abroad, do not hesitate! I really want to recommend choosing ELS Las Vegas because a whole new world is waiting for you!!!

I didn't expect that the life in Las Vegas was going to be nice like this. Before I came to ELS, I lived in Washington. I took ESL classes and some academic classes in college. Actually, I was supposed to enroll in college in Las Vegas without ELS because I had already taken English classes for over a year. However, I was afraid of my low English skills and a new environment. Therefore, I decided to attend ELS for a couple of months before attending my new college. My choice was correct. I have met many friends and teachers who are from different countries than me. I could know the cultural differences about them. At ELS, I got thousands of tips for writing and for grammar. The teachers are friendly and helpful and they have tons of knowledge. Whenever I had questions, they taught me until I understood. They helped me a lot to brush up on my English skills. Also, ELS has activities once in a while which are really good opportunities to get closer with friends. I went to Hoover Dam, which is the nation's biggest dam. I would like to add one more thing before ending... the director of ELS Las Vegas is crazy funny.!! I remember the first day I met him because his joking was so amazing!! He released my nervous feeling. Like him, the staff helps us not only learning english, but also other things that we need help with. Therefore, I recommend you to learn here!! I'm sure you will have a great time at ELS Las Vegas!!!!!

My name is Kawtar and I attended ELS for 2 months. The first day I went there, I found smiling faces and very caring people. At ELS I learned to share and accept differences. I learned to coexist with different people and different personalities and I thank ELS for that. They surrounded us with the care necessary to expand ourselves and learn not just English but how to be and mostly how to adjust to the American society and culture. One important thing about ELS is that I made such progress in English, that once I wanted to attend the College of Southern Nevada, I didn't need to take any English placement test. I graduated from ELS at Level 111. Thanks you ELS, because of you I had great memories I'll never forget, ones that will last a lifetime.

Hi, My name is Shigeyuki from Japan and I studied at ELS for 4 months. When I got to ELS for the first time, I was so worried about studying at a new place, but all of the teachers and other students were friendly, so I could adopt myself to school. All of the classes were helpful, fun and it was easy to improve. When I had some questions, the teachers were trying to help me as much as they could, so I could solve those questions. In addition, ELS has some activities and they are a good chance to become friendly with other students. The thing I can say is ELS is a great place to study English and have new friends. I would say thank you so much to ELS because they gave me some great experiences in my life. I hope you will have a great time at ELS.
Las Vegas is famous for lots of things. So, it's no surprise that magic is a big part of Las Vegas culture. In addition to the hundreds of magic shows in town, there are also several magic stores where you'll be able to learn a few tricks.
Art is also a big part of Las Vegas. In addition to downtown's growing art scene, Las Vegas is full of beautiful art throughout the city's mega hotel, shopping and entertainment complexes. Come see for yourself!
Everywhere you go in Las Vegas there seems to be a beautiful water fountain. On the famous Las Vegas Strip, there are hundreds of fountains waiting for you to stand in front of and snap a picture.
While there is always something happening indoors, there is also lots to see outdoors. Aside from the Bellagio Water Fountains and Mirage Volcano, giant pirate ships are also used as props for spectacular FREE street performances.
