Manhattan - East Village Apartments(Student Off Campus)
Four students share each East Village Apartment. Apartments consist of two double rooms, with a shared bathroom, living room and kitchen. Bedrooms include bunk beds, linens, dressers, and desks for each student. The living room features a television for communal student use, while included in the kitchen are a dishwasher, microwave, and set of dishes. Just two blocks from the apartments lies one of the most prominent features of the East Village, Tompkins Square Park, with public gardens, recreation lawns, a handball court, and a basketball court. The eclectic East Village neighborhood sports an extensive array of retail shops and eateries, as well as proximity to vibrant nightlife.

No meals are included. There is a bodega (corner store grocery) and a drug store on the same block. The East Village has an extensive variety of restaurants, bars, and cafes.
Outside Manhattan homestay(Homestay)
Homestay students are responsible for their personal transportation. Homestay students in this option stay in suburban New York, which includes Staten Island and New Jersey, depending on the homestay. There is good public transportation to all areas. The limited meals allow students more freedom to take meals in New York City.

Patricia Chukurov - Center Director
Center Director
After a long career in Human Resources on Wall Street, Patricia was delighted to have the opportunity to become Center Director at ELS Manhattan. Patricia brings to the position not only her love of cultural exchange but also her strong business background which helps her run one of the largest and most dynamic Centers at ELS.
Dan Manolescu - Academic Director
Academic Director
For over 25 years, Dan has shared with students his enthusiasm for teaching and learning in the classroom. From classroom to college advisement, he has provided guidance in all aspects of educational achievement. He holds a Masters in English and was a member of the committee which developed the first ELS curriculum.
John LaBarbera
International Student Advisor
After teaching English in Korea and Japan and studying abroad in Italy himself, John has found advising at ELS Manhattan to be a great fit. He enjoys his role as a Designated School Official (DSO), aiding students with visa questions and a host of other advising concerns. John holds Bachelors Degrees from the University of Minnesota in Family Social Science and Fine Arts.
Natalia Cwik
International Student Advisor
After spending her summers annually in Poland, Natalia was delighted to apply her affinity for language and for culture by assuming her advisory role at ELS Manhattan. Weaving together her bilingual background and personal experience as a language student in France, she understands and relates to the sensibility of second language acquisition and the cultural immersion process. Natalia holds a Bachelors degree in English from the University at Albany and has earned credits in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Columbia University.
Jae Woong Youn - Registrar

After completing his MA in Psychology from Youngnam University, Jae Woong worked as a youth counselor in Korea. Seeking other challenges, Jae Woong decided to come to the United States as an F-1 student to continue his studies. After completing his studies in New York City, Jae Woong worked for a community college program which encourages high school students to continue their education after graduation. Jae Woong's background in youth counseling in addition to expertise in database management are welcomed assets to the ELS Manhattan team.

Because NY is a multicultural city, you can meet people from a lot of different counties and you can learn many things about their cultures. My favorite thing about studying English in NY is that this city gives you a lot of topics to discuss in class. I love ELS because I can make friends from other countries and learn English.

Calling All Merit Scholars! We are proud to present our ELS 50th Anniversary University Tuition Scholarship in celebration of Fifty (50) Years of ELS Leadership in International Education.
This scholarship is a special recognition for students like you--with outstanding academic achievement in your undergraduate, graduate, and/or secondary school.
If you meet the minimum grade point average (GPA) and several other requirements, ELS will award 50 percent of your ELS Language Centers English for Academic Purposes (EAP) tuition. The ELS 50th Anniversary University Tuition Scholarship will be paid directly into your student account at the ELS Host Institution or AEC member that issued your CLA, making the process simple and official.
Contact an ELS-authorized Counseling Agent, who will ensure that you follow the admissions process properly, meeting all scholarship terms and conditions. Participating ELS university partners are as follows:

Interested in studying in Australia? Choose from ELS Universal English College in beautiful Sydney or the new center opening in May 2012 in Brisbane, located on the campus of Metropolitan South institute (MSIT) of TAFE.

Last Thursday marked the opening of ELS International Pathways office in Chennai, India! This momentous next step for ELS was celebrated with traditional Indian foods, Indian dance performances and presentations of the history of ELS and the new mission of ELS in India. We will provide objective education counseling to help students achieve their higher education goals in the USA, Canada and Australia.
