      • Students at ELS/Johnson City enjoy the beautiful views on campus of the changing seasons and of the Appalachian Mountains in the distance. When they want to take a break from their studies, they can watch the ETSU Bluegrass Band perform, view the stars and planets from the planetarium and observatory, or just relax with a cup of coffee in "The Cave" (a part of the student center built into a rocky hill)

    Students can live with a local family for a true American experience! Host families will provide each student with a private bedroom along with breakfast and dinner each day. If the homestay is not within walking distance to ELS or a bus stop, the family will provide transportation to ELS for the student. Host families love to learn about other cultures and spend time talking with the students that they host.

    Student Residence (On Campus)

    Lucille Clement Hall is a traditional on-campus residence hall that houses both males and females in separate wings in the 5-story building. Each room comes with two closets with built-in dressers, a sink, mirror, air conditioner and heating unit, cable and internet jacks, and Wi-Fi. Double occupancy rooms have two extra-long twin beds. Shared hallway bathrooms and showers are located on each wing. The building also has a laundry room, vending machines on every floor, several lobbies and lounges, and three kitchens. This residence hall is equipped with 24-hour security by use of a key card and is accessible only by students and staff who live there. Resident Advisors live on each floor of the building and are available 24 hours per day. Linens and towels are provided. ELS students may now reserve single or double rooms at Lucille Clement Hall on the campus of East Tennessee State University. Located next to the university gym, this student residence is just a few minutes¿ walk to the ELS Center. ELS students currently living on campus will be relocated to Lucille Clement Hall on August 12, 2017 with the help of ELS staff.
    ***Meningitis Vaccination Notification*** All students under age 22 who live on campus are required to have received the meningococcal meningitis vaccine within the past 5 years. Students must have this vaccination completed before arriving to ELS/Johnson City. After arriving, students must also have a TB (tuberculosis) test performed at the ETSU Health Clinic.
    Immunization documents are required for this Center and included in the Student Welcome Package.

    • Unlimited meals per week at the Marketplace cafeteria, located in the Culp Center.
      Students will receive the Anytime 7-Day Silver Dining Plan, which allows them access to the Marketplace (cafeteria) as many times as they would like during operating hours (7:00 a.m. to midnight). The Marketplace has many dining options, including vegan and vegetarian food, pizza, grilled items, pasta, salads, deli sandwiches, and traditional American food.
