Every year, the Department of Global Communications, Musashino University (Japan) visits the ELS Language Centers Study Abroad program in the United States as part of their curriculum to enhance their students’ English and cultural skills while visiting US university campuses.
Due to COVID-19, the University canceled its overseas travel, and ELS Language Centers proposed a customized online English program in place of traveling in-person to North America.
The Head of the Department of Global Communications, Musashino University announced that it was a difficult decision to cancel the travel earlier in the year, but he is hopeful they can return to ELS’s study abroad program in the United States in the second half of 2021 as the situation improves.
On Feb 7th, 2021, ELS Language Centers welcomed 115 Musashino University students to a customized online, 4-week Intensive English program delivered by a group of experienced ELS teachers trained at delivering online language instruction.
ELS’s customized online programs are designed from a curriculum developed in partnership with National Geographic and are complemented by ELS’s advanced online learning program GEL, Guided E-learning.
“It’s an exciting opportunity for our teachers to be involved in delivering the online ELS Program,” said John Becker, Managing Director of ELS Language Centers in Canada.
ELS Canada’s teachers will be supporting this particular on-line program, while ELS US operations simultaneously deliver our ION+ program as well as customized group programs to university students from other countries.
ELS Language Centers had a robust online platform and online curriculum in place before the COVID -19 pandemic. ELS offers an online Intensive English program called the ION+ which can lead to matriculation to over 650 university programs in North America, and as well can offer customized online group programs for university, college, and K-12 school groups who are limited by travel and want a customized program times and content.
