About This Center
The ELS English Language Center in Charlotte is located on the campus of Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte, North Carolina. This medium-sized city and financial hub is located between Washington, D.C., and Atlanta, Georgia.
Students taking English language classes in Charlotte enjoy a location in the walkable Uptown City Center. This means they’re only minutes away from fine dining, new cultural experiences, and exciting sporting events. The bustling modern city is two hours away from the famous Appalachian Mountains for hiking and sightseeing, and less than four hours from the beautiful Carolina beaches for soaking up the sun, swimming, and surfing.

Johnson & Wales University is well known for its top-ranked business and hospitality programs in food science, culinary arts, food & beverage entrepreneurship, hotel & lodging management and restaurant, food and beverage management. As an ELS student on the JWU campus, you’ll have full access to the University’s dining halls and other on-campus amenities.
Upon successful completion of ELS Level 112, you will fulfill the English language entry requirement for conditional admission to Johnson & Wales University, as well as additional nearby partner colleges and universities.

English Language Center Charlotte, North Carolina
Living with a host is one of the best ways to learn American culture and improve English skills. Students are placed with hosts who care about students and want to help them learn and practice English. Homes have access to nearby bus stops that enable students to take public transportation to and from ELS with a bus pass. Most bus passes provide unlimited travel by the week or month. This allows students to also take the bus to explore Charlotte in their free time and experience the attractions the city offers.
Cost per Session: $1,172
Meal Credits: 14 meals per week, which are breakfast and dinner.
Breakfast is often self-serve, continental style. Meals on weekends may be brunch (a combination of breakfast and lunch eaten late morning) and dinner.

U.S. National Whitewater Center: Enjoy rafting, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and zip-lining in this amazing training facility, complete with a man-made whitewater river.
Carowinds: This large theme park offers world-class rides, shows, rollercoasters, and attractions.
Charlotte Motor Speedway/The NASCAR Hall of Fame: The famous speedway hosts numerous exciting drag and track races throughout the year. Visitors can ride in or even drive a race car.
