What is Conditional Admission?
Institutions in the ELS University Conditional Admission Network offer conditional admission to students who are academically admissible based on the student’s academic record and other university and/or departmental and program requirements, but who have not yet demonstrated English proficiency. Your admission is “conditional” based upon satisfying English proficiency through completion of a specified level of the ELS English for Academic Purposes program and any other specific requirements prior to full admission. Once these requirements are fulfilled, you are able to fully matriculate. These requirements will be outlined on your Conditional Letter of Admission, and your selected ELS center will assist you in completing all of the necessary requirements for matriculation.
Additional matriculation requirements may include other required scores, for example, GMAT® or GRE® for graduate programs.
Our ELS University Partners will offer a Conditional Letter of Admission (CLA) detailing the additional requirements needed for matriculation. You and your family can be assured that you have a university placement and ELS registration prior to departing for the USA.
What is the Conditional Admission Process?
Find a university via our University Finder
Apply for university admission and enroll for English studies at ELS Language Centers with help from a local ELS authorized Counseling Agent.
If you are an acceptable candidate for university admission, you receive a letter of "Conditional university admission subject to English proficiency and submission of any other required documentation for matriculation."

Meet the Staff
Greetings from ELS Hollywood! My name is Matt Mercurio and I am the Center Director. I grew up in Philadelphia, PA and graduated from both West Virginia University (BA) and HULT International Business School (MA). During my time at HULT, I was one of five Americans in the program and had the opportunity to study, socialize and travel with my classmates from 26 different countries. I’ve also lived across the US, including: Chicago, Denver, San Diego, San Francisco, and now here in sunny Los Angeles.
I’ve worked, studied and traveled around Asia and the UAE, and it’s been a life-long goal of mine to visit each continent! I thoroughly enjoy meeting students from all around the world and watching their English skills progress throughout their time here in southern California.
Myself, and the rest of the team here at ELS Hollywood look forward to meeting you!

Hello, my name’s Cris and I am the Academic Director at ELS Hollywood. I love animals, Latin music, traveling, dancing, reading, and going to the movies! Besides that, a couple of my biggest passions are learning about different languages and new cultures!
Therefore, I welcome all international students to come study English in Hollywood, where we are surrounded by entertainment, beauty, and cosmopolitan people in sunny California! I am sure your expectations will be highly fulfilled and your leaning experience will be fantastic!
Hello! I am Sianny and I am the Registrar at the school. I have been working with international students for many years. I love the opportunity to get to know students from around the world and learn about their culture! It is indeed an enriching experience. I was an international student myself in Italy when I learned the Italian language. I am originally from Indonesia, so I understand how it is being an international student in a foreign country.
At the school, I maintain students' accounts and help students with health insurance questions.

Hello, everybody. I am Yoshi from Japan. I have studied
English at ELS Hollywood for a half year. When I came here, I felt a little nervous. However, teachers are so nice and always very helpful. And then, the environment makes students interesting and concentrate on study.
My time in the United States was not easy, but also amazing because of them and that I have made many wonderful friends from different countries.
Finally, I would like to recommend everyone, studying English in the United States, to come to ELS Hollywood and The Los Angeles Film School. Here is the place you can enjoy and
study hard. Thank you so much!

"My experience in ELS Hollywood was amazing. Here, I met people from different countries and had classes with excellent teachers. The ELS team is always ready to help you when you need and the course is wonderful.
Los Angeles is a fantastic city! You have a lot of places to go and visit. The ELS Hollywood is in an excellent location and the student residence too. You can go walking to the Walk of Fame after classes, or visit the Griffith Observatory. Also, you can enjoy the beach on the weekends or take a trip to Santa Barbara or Las Vegas with your friends.
Definitely, I love my experience. Each minute was incredible and each person was special."

“Although I chose the Academic Intensive course, I expected that studying English at ELS would be easygoing. I have studied English for a long time, and received high scores on the TOEFL and GMAT tests, and have been accepted to UCLA’s MBA program at the Anderson School of Management.
Its Master class (level 110-112), however, has great content
that keeps students challenged with presentations, debates, surveys, and research papers. These are all essential for studying in an American university. Professional instructors teach students how to present and argue ideas clearly and proficiently. It was a very valuable time for me to practice Academic English and to understand the current events and issues in the United States.
You will be able to practice academic English intensively under the guidance of the passionate teachers at ELS Hollywood.”

Living and studying outside of my home country is not an easy experience, but with ELS everything was simpler for me. The staff here does everything possible so we can feel comfortable and safe in the middle of so many novelties. The classes are very good and interactive. A differential ELS Hollywood is its location. For lovers of cinema us something not to be missed, because the school is located in the famous Los Angeles Film School and just a few minutes away from the Walk of Fame!”
