What is Conditional Admission?

Institutions in the ELS University Conditional Admission Network offer conditional admission to students who are academically admissible based on the student’s academic record and other university and/or departmental and program requirements, but who have not yet demonstrated English proficiency. Your admission is “conditional” based upon satisfying English proficiency through completion of a specified level of the ELS English for Academic Purposes program and any other specific requirements prior to full admission. Once these requirements are fulfilled, you are able to fully matriculate. These requirements will be outlined on your Conditional Letter of Admission, and your selected ELS center will assist you in completing all of the necessary requirements for matriculation.

Additional matriculation requirements may include other required scores, for example, GMAT® or GRE® for graduate programs.

Our ELS University Partners will offer a Conditional Letter of Admission (CLA) detailing the additional requirements needed for matriculation. You and your family can be assured that you have a university placement and ELS registration prior to departing for the USA.

What is the Conditional Admission Process?

  1. Find a university via our University Finder
  2. Apply for university admission and enroll for English studies at ELS Language Centers with help from a local ELS authorized Counseling Agent.
  3. If you are an acceptable candidate for university admission, you receive a letter of "Conditional university admission subject to English proficiency and submission of any other required documentation for matriculation."
  4. Study at any of the 60 ELS Centers in the USA to fulfill the university entrance requirement for English proficiency.
  5. Begin your university program!

Meet the Staff

Tyler King

Tyler King

Center Director

I have been with ELS for a few years, and held positions from Student Advisor to Youth Camp Director. I am thrilled to take on this new venture as the Center Director of ELS Romeoville. I love being part of students’ lives as they study abroad, improve their English, and prepare for university. International students are undertaking something incredibly difficult, but it leads to the opportunity to study at an American university and a language that has the potential to unite people from all over the world. It’s a great feeling to provide a service that enables this type of achievement. So, on behalf of the ELS staff and teachers, I welcome you to ELS Romeoville on the beautiful campus of Lewis University!

Kostas Kreonopoulos

Kostas Kreonopoulos

Registrar

As the Registrar, I’m responsible for helping students with financial matters, housing and insurance issues as well as maintaining their academic records. I have been involved in higher education as an administrator in American Institutions in Europe, for over 25 years. I have also taught English as a second language to students of all ages. I have tremendously enjoyed my involvement in administration and my interaction with students of many nationalities. I hold degrees from the The University of Michigan and the University of La Verne. I have travelled in many countries and I believe that learning a foreign language and exploring other cultures broadens the mind and cultivates the character of a person. Aristotle, the great Greek philosopher said: “The educated differ from the uneducated as much as the living from the dead”. Your opportunities are unlimited. Welcome to ELS-Romeoville at Lewis University.

I came to ELS Romeoville because of its location. Lewis University is a beautiful campus and a great, safe, peaceful place to study. The campus is also an Arboretum, so there are gardens, fountains, and flowers everywhere. I love to walk through campus and enjoy the
scenery and to study near nature. Also being close to Chicago is a lot of fun! I travel with my friends to the city on most weekends. This is a great opportunity to practice the English that we learn in our classrooms.

The teachers at ELS Romeoville are so helpful. I meet a new teacher after every session, so I learn from many different teachers. This is so good for me because I hear different accents and learn in different ways. I know this prepares me for my future because
I want to work with an international company where I will be speaking English with people from all around the world.

My father works at the Bogota airport in Colombia and he made me interested in aviation. This is why I study at ELS Romeoville and Lewis University. I will learn English with ELS and then begin classes for a Bachelor degree in Aviation Management. I live in the dormitory and meet other American students who are studying aviation and I learn from them. I am also able to meet professors that teach aviation classes and I did a tour of the Aviation Center. I was able to see the Air Traffic Control center, and the flight simulators. These experiences make me more interested in aviation. Now I am excited to start at Lewis in a few months.
