Great Things to See and Do

Housing Options

Student Residence (On Campus)

Point Park University offers a co-ed dorm. Both males and females are on the same floor, but only the same gender is in the same room. The Student Residence is located in the same building as ELS/Pittsburgh Language Centers. There is 24 hour Security on campus and a security guard in each building's lobby. Only the student ID card allows entrance to the dorm floor. Meals are not included, however, there is a cafeteria and cafe located on site, and there are many restaurants within a short walk. The rooms are doubles, with 2 students per room. There is 1 bathroom per dorm unit. A bed, a desk and a closet is provided along with linens and a shower curtain. There is no kitchen. A/C is provided for 2 1/2 months in the summer. There is a laundry room with washers and dryers on another floor. The dormitory is very close to many downtown amenities. It is a short-walk to arts, sports and entertainment in the downtown area. It is easier to meet American students in the dormitory.

Most Home-stays are located in the suburban residential areas or the city but outside of the downtown area, which contains mainly businesses and schools. Host Family Students are responsible for their personal transportation. Students will need to take public transportation, which is between a 30-45 minute bus ride to the Center and costs approximately $2.50 one way. The Host family does not provide transportation to the Center. The Room type at the Home Stay is Single. Each student will have their own bedroom, but may have to share a bathroom with the family. Most American Home Stays have pets. It is not unusual for an American family to have dogs and or cats. Hosts often become life long friends with our students.
