ELS Johnson City is located on the campus of East Tennessee State University in the safe, welcoming, and friendly city of Johnson City, Tennessee. Enjoy the city’s history, art galleries, annual festivals, shopping, dining, and world-famous music culture. The nearby Appalachian Mountains allow for outdoor adventures like skiing, rafting, fishing, and hiking.
Students at ELS/Johnson City enjoy the beautiful views on campus of the changing seasons and of the Appalachian Mountains in the distance. When they want to take a break from their studies, they can watch the ETSU Bluegrass Band perform, view the stars and planets from the planetarium and observatory, or just relax with a cup of coffee in "The Cave" (a part of the student center built into a rocky hill)

Students can live with a local family for a true American experience! Host families will provide each student with a private bedroom along with breakfast and dinner each day. If the homestay is not within walking distance to ELS or a bus stop, the family will provide transportation to ELS for the student. Host families love to learn about other cultures and spend time talking with the students that they host.
Cost per Session
14 meals per week. Students have access to kitchen if they would like to make meals in addition to the meals provided by the family.
Student Residence (On Campus)
Lucille Clement Hall opened in 1967 and was renovated in 2010. This 5-story residence hall houses 464 students and is co-ed by floor and/or wing.
This is a great place to meet Americans and other international students. The residence hall has lots of activities in which to participate!

Shared room with two XL twin beds, 2 built-in dressers, 2 closets, 2 desks, sink, and mirror.

Lucille Clement Hall is located in the middle of campus and is across from the recreation center, which has a weight room, aerobic machines, swimming pool, climbing wall, and more.
Cost per Session
Unlimited meals per week at the Marketplace cafeteria, located in the Culp Center.
Students will receive the Anytime 7-Day Silver Dining Plan, which allows them access to the Marketplace (cafeteria) as many times as they would like during operating hours (7:00 a.m. to midnight). The Marketplace has many dining options, including vegan and vegetarian food, pizza, grilled items, pasta, salads, deli sandwiches, and traditional American food.
