Indiana University – Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW)

IPFW is the largest university in northeast Indiana, offering more than 200 Indiana University and Purdue University degrees and certificates. It is a joint campus of two internationally recognized Big Ten schools. IPFW is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

More than 14,000 students from 42 states and 68 countries attend IPFW. The university includes five colleges, one school and two divisions with 33 total departments. It also hosts 17 Centers of Excellence that integrate teaching, research and service to the community.

ELS/Fort Wayne

The ELS facility, with all classrooms, offices and Language Technology Center, is located on the campus of IPFW. ELS students have full access to IPFW’s library, recreation facilities, computer labs and other facilities. IPFW accepts ELS intensive English for Academic Purposes Level 112 as fulfillment of the English proficiency requirement for undergraduate programs. Letters of Conditional Admission based upon Level 112 are issued for many of their programs. IPFW’s programs offer many choices including accounting, biochemistry, business, computer engineering, finance, graphic design, hospital management, mechanical engineering technology and public management.

ELS students can choose to live in on-campus student housing or a homestay.

Fort Wayne, Indiana

Fort Wayne has a population of 253,700, and is the second largest city in Indiana. Its economy is based on education, manufacturing, insurance, health care and logistics. The city has been an All-American City Award recipient in 1982, 1998 and 2009.

Attractions include the award-winning Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, Fort Wayne Museum of Art, Greater Fort Wayne Aviation Museum, Fort Wayne Mad Ants (basketball team), Fort Wayne Tin Caps (baseball team), Rivergreenway Trail (80 kilometers of multi-use trails), Science Central, (hands-on museum for children of all ages), Foellinger Outdoor Theater, and plenty of shopping at Glenbrook Square and Jefferson Pointe Malls. Students can enjoy weekend trips to Chicago, Indianapolis and Detroit, and so much more!
