General English - Canada

About the program

Our General English program helps you communicate more accurately and efficiently. The ELS General English program supports you as you develop skills that will help you communicate in English-speaking situations. In the mornings, you will study the fundamentals of the English language through Structure and Speaking Practice or Language Studies, Vocabulary Enrichment (or Skills Enhancement, in Masters levels), and a lesson in the Language Technology Center. Your afternoons will focus on Skills Enhancement Classes.

  • Key Language Skills: Listening, Pronunciation, Grammar, Speaking, and Vocabulary

Levels

ELS offers 12 proficiency levels (Beginner to Masters), as well as placement testing to determine the level that best fits your abilities. At the end of every four-week session, if you successfully meet your level's requirements, you will move up to the next level. As you progress through the levels, your courses build upon the skills you learned in the lower levels and become more complex.
