With six daily English lessons, you’ll be surprised by how quickly your English abilities will progress and improve.

The Intensive English Program
is for you if:

  • You want to develop English language proficiency to support your success in academic, business, and social settings at a quality English language school with over 60 years of experience teaching English in the USA.
  • You’re ready to dedicate yourself to achieving your English learning goals in an intensive Full-Time study program and want to learn all essential language skills.
  • You plan to complete an ELS Masters Level to meet the English language entry requirement for one of ELS’s 600+ college and university partner schools in the USA.
  • You want the experience of learning English on a US university or college campus.

*Programs run in 4-week sessions and students can start on any Monday year-round (Tuesday if Monday is a public holiday). For the best experience we encourage students to start at the beginning of a session and not to start on week four of the session.

Intensive English Program Sample Schedule

Students enjoy four 50-minute lessons each Morning, Monday to Friday, and two and a half 50-minute lessons each afternoon, Monday to Thursday** for a total of 30 lessons per week. Schedule is a sample only and may vary depending on your level and location.

What You Can Achieve
in the Intensive English Program

The Intensive English language course curriculum is designed to help you easily transition into the academic or business worlds. The course structure is designed to focus on four pillars that lead to success.

Key Language Skills: Cover all the essential language skills such as: listening, speaking, reading, writing, pronunciation, and grammar. You will learn to speak with clarity, listen carefully, and gain the writing competencies necessary to complete challenging academic or business tasks with ease and accuracy.

Academic and Business Success Skills: Along with English, you’ll learn critical thinking, how to deliver presentations, public speaking, note-taking, and more.

Skills Enhancement Classes: Our Skills Enhancement Classes vary by location, but may include topics like American Idioms, American Film, Current Events, and American Culture.

Applied Learning: Our Contact America! learning activities allow you to meet with native English-speakers, practice conversing while using real-world English, and listen to guest lecturers.

ELS’s Intensive English program provides the highest level of proficiency for language learning, offering skills that are adaptable to any setting. For students who plan to transition into one of ELS’s university or college partners, completing the Masters Levels of the Intensive English course is accepted as proof of English proficiency for over 600 higher education partners in the United States.

Your language progression will depend on your personal commitment and the length of time you study. Each ELS level is 4 weeks. All students will receive a certificate of completion at the end of their studies.
