About the Semi-Intensive English Program
ELS’s Semi-Intensive English Program allows you to combine the best of both worlds, English study and exploration. Enjoy four daily English lessons designed to quickly improve your English communication skills. Classes will focus on improving your oral communication, vocabulary, structure, with a secondary focus on reading and writing.
Classes takes place in the mornings, leaving your afternoons free for completing homework, participating in ELS activities, or exploring the sights and attractions in your local study city and practicing your English with local Americans. Choose the Semi-Intensive English program if you want to make English language development a priority while still leaving plenty of time for discovering local culture and activities.

Visa Information
*Programs run in 4-week sessions and students can start on any Monday year-round (Tuesday if Monday is a public holiday). For the best experience we encourage students to start at the beginning of a session and not to start on week four of the session.

What You Can Achieve in the Semi-Intensive English Program
The Semi-Intensive English morning classes focus on the building blocks of English proficiency – you will combine classes like Structure and Speaking Practice or Language Studies, dynamic Skills Enhancement Classes (which may focus on a variety of specific skills and topics), and lessons in the Language Technology Center.
With the focus on these pillars of language, you will develop a real understanding of the applications of English in real life. Our goal is for you to not only build a foundational understanding of the English language, but to feel comfortable and confident using these English skills in both academic and social settings.
With classes taking place in the mornings, you’ll have ample free time to put your English skills into practice outside of class, through ELS activities, exploration with new friends and interactions with local Americans as you discover the unique sights and attractions of your US study city.
Your language progression will depend on your personal commitment and the length of time you study. Each ELS level is 4 weeks. All students will receive a certificate of completion at the end of their studies.
